One billion people are suffering in isolation from neglected tropical diseases like leprosy. We work around the world with Christ-centered partners to bring physical healing and enduring hope.

Introducing Hope Rises International:
New Name, Same Mission

For over a century, American Leprosy Missions has brought healing and hope to those suffering from neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) like leprosy. But true restoration goes beyond medical care—it’s about transforming lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually through the power of the gospel.

Now, as Hope Rises International, our name reflects our calling: breaking down barriers to health, stopping disease in its tracks, and bringing light where darkness once prevailed. Every person we serve is more than their illness—they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by Christ.

Because when hope rises, lives are renewed, communities are restored, and the door to a brighter future is opened.

Changing Communities Through Faith and Action

We believe that healing happens through medicine and treatment, but restoration happens through the hope of the gospel. As we follow the lead of Jesus, our commitment is to provide healing and hope to some of the most marginalized people worldwide. We do this by partnering with local pastors and faith leaders, equipping them to care for their communities physically and spiritually. Healing can take a lifetime, but hope lasts an eternity!

"What I've learned from this journey is nothing is impossible with God"

Seventeen years ago, Renate lay in a hospital bed, her future uncertain as she battled Buruli ulcer—a devastating, flesh-eating disease. Today, she's a proud nursing school graduate, inspired to care for others in her community.

Join us in helping more people like Renate find healing and hope.

History

Over 100 Years of Impact

Since 1906, we’ve been providing life-changing medical care and gospel-centered hope to those suffering from disease, stigma, and isolation.

As we prepare for the next century of service, we are more focused than ever on partnering with local leaders, pastors, and Christian partners to not only provide the vital care today, but also the hope so desperately needed for tomorrow.
